Community Grief Support helps those grieving the loss of a loved one

There are more than 11,000 funerals in Birmingham annually. Some 2,500 bereaved adults come to Community Grief Support Service (CGS) each year seeking hope that they can begin healing on their grief journey. CGS offers completely free grief support groups throughout the Greater Birmingham Area; free individual, couples, and family grief counseling; and community grief education.

Cathy Connor, former support group participant and CGS board member, said that after she lost her husband of 26 years to brain cancer, she didn’t think she had the strength to face each day. “At first I didn’t even think I could make it through the grief support meetings, but now I realize that there is a great deal of value in being around other people who really know what you’re going through because they’re going through the same thing,” Connor said.

Join us on our mission to raise over $1,000 in support for Community Grief Support and don’t forget to come out to the third annual “Memory Lights” Walk in Homewood’s Central Park.

Our agency will donate $10 to AGB on your behalf for every recommendation you send our way, and we'll add you to our monthly drawing for a $50 Gift Card.

Getting involved has never been so simple, or Free!
